Ravens Academy celebrates its fantastic Ofsted report
Ravens Academy in Clacton-on-Sea has earned a rating of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ leadership from Ofsted following an inspection in July 2015.
Part of the Academy Transformation Trust family, Ravens Academy was graded ‘Good’ in four of the five categories and ‘Outstanding’ in the leadership category. This is a remarkable improvement as the school was judged ‘inadequate’ before converting to an academy. ‘Outstanding’ is the highest rating a school can receive, while ‘Good’ is the second highest. ‘Inadequate’ is the lowest rating.
During the inspection the primary academy was applauded for the high quality of teaching and the strong focus on individual pupils’ needs. Inspectors praised teaching staff stating, ‘Teachers and teaching assistants form a strong team. The academy staff have created a caring ethos and this has a very positive impact on the pupils’ progress…’
Inspectors also commended the outstanding leadership of the principal, vice principal, other senior leaders, the governing body and the Trust in their report, ‘Since becoming an academy sponsored by the Academy Transformation Trust the leadership has been outstanding. The principal is very effectively supported by senior leaders, the outstanding governing body and staff from the Trust.’
Early years provision for nursery and reception aged pupils was also recognised for its rapid improvement which has had a positive impact on pupils’ progress, ‘Teaching is consistently good with particular strengths in the Nursery. Because of this, children develop into very effective learners and are well prepared to start in Year 1.’
The report also describes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as ‘very strong’ and pupils as ‘well-prepared for life in modern Britain’.
Karen Hammond, Principal, said: “We are delighted with this incredibly positive report which reflects how far we have come since becoming an academy.
“Ofsted have recognised the improvements in teaching and learning throughout the academy and this fantastic result is down to the hard work of staff and pupils.
“Thank you to everyone for your incredible efforts.
“We will continue to work hard and build on our many positive results as we strive to become ‘Outstanding’.”
Ian Cleland, Chief Executive Officer of Academy Transformation Trust, commented: “The report reflects the fantastic work Karen and her team are doing to provide pupils with the first class education they deserve and gives parents the confidence of knowing that their children are receiving an excellent education.
“I am pleased that Ofsted have recognised the collaboration between staff, governors and The Trust and its impact, as we have made it our mission to work together to improve education throughout the UK.”
